Ministry: Russia threshes 104.8 mln tns of grain as of Friday

MOSCOW, Sep 8 (PRIME) -- Russian farmers threshed 104.845 million tonnes of grain in bunker weight from 32.448 million hectares as of Friday compared with 98.639 million tonnes from 36.074 million hectares last year as of the corresponding date, the Agriculture Ministry said in a statement.

The yield of grain amounted to 32.3 hundredweights per hectare, which is an 18.3% increase on the year but a 5.3% contraction compared with the yield as of September 1.

The wheat harvest amounted to 73.326 million tonnes from 20.479 million hectares and the barley crop stood at 18.798 million tonnes harvested from 6.545 million hectares.

The ministry expects Russia’s grain harvest to amount to 110 million tonnes in net weight in 2017. In 2016, Russia had a record high grain harvest of 120.7 million tonnes.
